A fast-rising Fuji musician and acclaimed acapella performer, Okiki Bright, has paid glowing tribute to the King of Fuji music, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, through a special music project titled “Revelation K1.”

The tribute record, according to Okiki Bright, was created to celebrate the legendary contributions of K1 De Ultimate to Fuji music, African music, and the entertainment industry at large.

Speaking during a recent visit to K1 De Ultimate’s residence in Ijebu-Ode, Okiki Bright described the Fuji icon as a rare musical gift to humanity and a mentor whose influence continues to shape generations of musicians.

According to him, the special project was inspired by his admiration for the veteran artiste’s consistency, creativity, leadership qualities, and fatherly role within the Fuji music industry.

“K1 De Ultimate is not just a musician; he is an institution in Fuji music and African entertainment. Almighty God gave him to the world as a blessing, mentor, and source of inspiration for every serious musician who truly understands good music,” Okiki Bright said.

The singer added that the song was carefully produced to reveal the personality, musical depth, and human side of the Fuji legend to fans across the world.

“I decided to do this special record to let the world know who K1 De Ultimate truly is — musically, morally, and fatherly. He has inspired countless musicians, and I believe honouring living legends is something we must continue to encourage in the entertainment industry,” he added.

Reacting to the tribute, K1 De Ultimate praised Okiki Bright for what he described as a mature and professionally delivered musical effort.

The Fuji legend commended the artiste’s vocal strength, musical arrangement, and choice of instrumentation, noting that the tribute reflected deep understanding of authentic Fuji music.

“I appreciate you sincerely for dedicating this special track to me. This is a beautiful and well-composed job,” K1 De Ultimate said.

The veteran musician further referenced one of the teachings of the late Fuji pioneer, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, while applauding the quality of the production.

“Late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister of blessed memory once sang that any musician who produces an unpresentable song would know within himself that he has not done well. But in this case, Okiki Bright showed maturity, quality sound selection, and good musical understanding. Even the backup singers displayed experienced musical minds,” he stated.

Fans and lovers of Fuji music who reacted to the development described the tribute project as a timely recognition of one of Nigeria’s most influential indigenous music legends.

Several Fuji enthusiasts noted that K1 De Ultimate has remained a dominant force in the genre for decades, helping to modernise Fuji music and expand its popularity beyond Nigeria to international audiences.

A Lagos-based Fuji music lover, Kunle Sanni, described the tribute as “a well-deserved honour for a living legend.”

“K1 De Ultimate has done so much for Fuji music. Younger artistes celebrating him while he is alive is something commendable. Okiki Bright deserves praise for recognising greatness,” he said.

Another fan, Zainab Adebayo, said the tribute further demonstrated the deep respect many upcoming Fuji musicians have for K1’s legacy.

“You cannot discuss the history of Fuji music without mentioning K1 De Ultimate. His influence is everywhere in Nigerian indigenous music,” she added.

Widely regarded as one of the most successful Fuji musicians in Africa, K1 De Ultimate has spent decades redefining the genre with a blend of traditional Yoruba percussion, modern instrumentation, and global musical influences.

The Fuji maestro, who has released numerous successful albums and performed across continents, remains one of the strongest cultural ambassadors of Yoruba indigenous music.

Industry observers believe the forthcoming release of “Revelation K1” could further strengthen conversations around celebrating legendary African musicians while they are still alive.

The tribute project is expected to be released officially soon.
