The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged party members, aspirants, and supporters to remain calm and patient amid growing concerns over the party’s nomination process ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
According to a statement made available to party faithful, only the National Leader of the APC and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so far received a Certificate of Return as the party’s presidential candidate. The party clarified that no governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, or State House of Assembly aspirant has been officially issued a Certificate of Return or formally declared as the APC candidate for any elective position.

The clarification comes amid complaints from some aspirants and their supporters who believe they may have been politically sidelined or that their mandates were being handed to other contenders. However, party leaders emphasised that no final decisions have been taken regarding those positions. They urged aggrieved aspirants not to lose hope, stressing that the process remains under the authority of the National Working Committee (NWC).
The Merit Newspaper reports that the APC further called on all members to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could create tension within the party, assuring stakeholders that official directives and decisions regarding candidates for the 2027 elections will be communicated by the appropriate party organs in due course.
