IBADAN — The abducted Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has publicly dismissed viral media reports claiming that her abductors demanded a N1 billion ransom and imposed conditions such as the introduction of Sharia law across Nigeria.
In a fresh video released on Monday, June 8, Alamu, who said she and others have spent 24 days in captivity, described the circulating reports as false and misleading.
“Please, I have come to make some clarification. Today makes it 24 days that we have been in this place. Some media outlets are complicating the issue by stating that the people who abducted us requested N1 billion ransom and demanded Sharia law across the country. And the release of some people. These claims are not true,” she said.

The principal, who was abducted alongside students and staff of the school during an attack on educational institutions in the area, urged the public and media organisations to verify information before publication, warning that inaccurate reports could further complicate rescue efforts.
Her appeal adds to growing concern over the prolonged captivity of victims of recent school abductions in parts of Oyo State, as families continue to await updates on their loved ones.
The Merit Newspaper acknowledges that security agencies have yet to issue a fresh official update on negotiations or rescue operations as of press time.
