LAGOS — Vice President Kashim Shettima has said Nigeria’s ambition to build a one-trillion-dollar economy will depend heavily on enterprise development, investment inflows and coordinated reforms across all levels of government.

Shettima made the remarks on Monday while representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the opening session of the Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit held at Eko Hotel and Suites.

Delivering the keynote address, the Vice President stressed that Nigeria’s economic transformation depends on creating a stable and enabling environment where capital, innovation and productive enterprise can thrive.

He described Lagos State as a leading example of how strong subnational governance, long-term planning and infrastructure development can accelerate national economic growth.

According to him, Lagos has consistently demonstrated the impact of policy consistency, private sector participation and sustained investment in infrastructure, positioning the state as a model for economic transformation in Africa.

The Merit Newspaper reports that Shettima added that the Tinubu administration remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at unlocking investment opportunities, improving productivity and strengthening Nigeria’s competitiveness as a major economic force on the continent.

“The journey to a one-trillion-dollar economy is not the responsibility of the federal government alone. It requires synergy between federal, state and private sector actors,” he was quoted as saying.

The Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit brought together top government officials, investors, business leaders and development partners to explore opportunities for growth, strategic partnerships and sustainable investment across key sectors of the economy.

The summit is part of ongoing efforts by Lagos State to position itself as Africa’s preferred investment destination while contributing significantly to Nigeria’s broader economic expansion agenda.
