The leading gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State under the platform of Peoples Democratic party, PDP, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, on Friday joined family members, church leaders and dignitaries at St. James Anglican Church, Eniosa-Onibepe, Ibadan, to bid farewell to the late matriarch, Mama Comfort Adeduntan Oladipo, describing her life as “a worthy example of service, sacrifice and enduring faith.”

Ajadi, who attended the funeral service alongside his entourage, said the gathering was not only a moment of grief but also a celebration of a life well lived.

“It is a blessing for all members of the Amoo family, the Oladipo family and everyone present here today to celebrate a life well spent. Mama lived a fulfilled life, and we must all strive to be worthy heirs of our parents’ legacies,” Ajadi said.

The funeral service, held at St. James Anglican Church under the Olorunda Archdeaconry of the Ibadan North Diocese (Anglican Communion), drew a large congregation of mourners, including religious leaders, community figures and business personalities.

Mama Comfort Adeduntan Oladipo, who passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 94, was widely described as a devout Christian, community builder and compassionate caregiver whose legacy transcended her immediate family.

Born in April 1932 into the Amoo family of Agunbiade Compound, Ojaigbo in Ibadan, she faced early hardship following the loss of her father at a young age, which denied her formal education. Despite this, she built a modest but impactful life as a trader, dealing in provisions and later fabrics—earning her the popular nickname “Iya Alaso.”

She married the late Chief S.O. Oladipo, the Jagunmola of Ajia, in 1950, and the union was blessed with children and generations of grandchildren.

Beyond her entrepreneurial pursuits, Mama Oladipo was deeply rooted in Christian service. She was an active choir member and a committed participant in the Young Women’s Auxiliary (YWAA Aremo 1), where she devoted her time and resources to the work of the church.

Family members and acquaintances described her as exceptionally generous and loving, particularly toward children, many of whom she cared for as her own—earning her another endearing title, “Iya Omo Wewe.”

Ajadi, reflecting further on her legacy, urged Nigerians to draw lessons from her humility and dedication to humanity.

“Mama’s life teaches us that greatness is not measured by wealth alone but by impact—how many lives you touch, how much love you give, and how faithfully you serve God and humanity,” he added.

Among dignitaries present at the funeral were Mr Gbade Amoo, Dr Ayodele Aderinwale, Chairman of Justrite Superstores, alongside other prominent figures from within and outside Oyo State.

The service featured hymns, prayers and tributes, with church officials including the Archbishop of Ibadan Province, The Most Rev. Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe, represented among the clergy.

As the final rites were performed, attendees were united in their reflection on a life marked by resilience, faith and generosity—qualities many agreed would keep Mama Oladipo’s memory alive for generations to come.
