Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta United Staff Co-operative Multi-purpose Society Limited has officially exonerated its president, Dr. Olusanjo Olugbenga Rotimi, from allegations of fraud and financial misconduct linked to a contractual transaction involving Whitehorse Capital Limited.

The exoneration was announced in a public notice issued by the management committee of the co-operative society, following what it described as a thorough investigation into claims surrounding a contractual relationship between the society and Whitehorse Capital Limited dating back to 2021.

According to the statement, the allegations had generated concern among members of the co-operative and sections of the public, prompting the management to set up an investigative committee to independently examine the matter.

The committee reportedly reviewed financial records, relevant documents, and statements connected to the transaction before arriving at its conclusion.

In the notice signed by the secretary on behalf of the management committee, the society stated that no evidence was found linking Dr. Rotimi to any act of fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, or any form of financial impropriety.

“The committee found no evidence linking Dr. Olusanjo Olugbenga Rotimi to any act of fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, or financial impropriety,” the notice stated.

The management further declared that Dr. Rotimi had been fully cleared of all accusations relating to the contractual dealings with Whitehorse Capital Limited and called on members of the public to dismiss any rumours or contrary publications suggesting otherwise.

“Accordingly, the Co-operative Society hereby exonerates and clears Dr. Olusanjo Olugbenga Rotimi of all allegations made against him in respect of the said contractual relationship and urges the public to disregard any contrary rumours or publications,” the statement added.

The development is expected to bring relief to members of the staff co-operative, many of whom had reportedly followed the matter closely due to its implications for trust and accountability in the society’s financial management.

Co-operative societies within public institutions such as Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta play a crucial role in supporting workers through savings schemes, loans, and welfare programmes. Allegations of financial misconduct involving top officials often trigger anxiety among members, especially where large investments or third-party contracts are involved.

Observers say the public clarification by the management committee may help restore confidence in the leadership of the society and reinforce internal governance mechanisms. They also note that the decision to make the findings public reflects an effort to maintain institutional transparency and prevent misinformation.

The management committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and fairness in all its affairs, stressing that due process was followed in arriving at its decision.

For many members, the statement may mark the end of a controversy that had lingered since the disputed 2021 transaction, while attention now shifts to how the co-operative will strengthen oversight of future partnerships and investments.
