A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has sustained his consultations with influential party leaders and stakeholders as momentum builds ahead of the party’s primaries.

The Merit Newspaper reports that in his latest round of engagements, Adediran paid a strategic visit to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, underscoring efforts to consolidate support within the party’s legislative bloc. He also held a separate meeting with Abayomi Finnih, a respected member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), where discussions centred on governance, party structure, and the future of the APC in the state.

Speaking after the meetings, Adediran described Obasa as a formidable grassroots mobiliser whose political relevance remains critical to the success of any aspirant within the party.

“Speaker Obasa is a grassroots political mobiliser whose relevance and buy-in cannot be overemphasised as we prepare for our party primaries,” he said.

He also acknowledged the depth of experience shared by Finnih, noting that the elder statesman’s guidance reflects decades of political involvement and insight.

“Dr. Finnih offered valuable elderly admonitions money cannot buy, owing to his decades of experience in politics,” he added.

The ongoing consultations form part of Adediran’s broader strategy to blend grassroots mobilisation with high-level stakeholder engagement across Lagos State. His campaign team confirmed that directives to political leaders within his structure remain active across the state’s 377 wards and 13,326 polling units, with continuous outreach to party members.

Reaffirming his commitment to unity, Adediran stressed the importance of respecting established leadership structures within the APC, maintaining that his ambition is anchored on collective progress and sustaining the party’s dominance in Lagos politics.

Meanwhile, The Merit Newspaper reports that, aside from Ogun State—where APC members and leaders have reportedly reached a consensus in endorsing Adeola Yayi as the party’s 2027 gubernatorial flag bearer—no other APC-controlled state, even Oyo State, a state controlled by PDP, in the South-West has officially produced a candidate.

In Lagos State, speculations continue to swirl within political circles, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that the state’s Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, may have been favoured by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC). However, party insiders insist that consultations and alignments are still ongoing, with no formal declaration made.

As the 2027 election cycle gradually approaches, Adediran’s sustained consultations signal an intensifying contest within Lagos APC, where multiple interests are expected to shape the eventual emergence of the party’s candidate.
