Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged to tackle insecurity and the cost-of-living crisis, promising genuine solutions to Nigeria’s challenges under the Reset Agenda.
Makinde made the pledge during the North-East Zone Town Hall Meeting of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), where he said the concerns raised by participants were similar to those expressed during engagements in the North-West and North-Central zones.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the governor said insecurity and the rising cost of living remained major concerns among Nigerians across the regions visited.
He assured participants at the meeting that his proposed approach under the Reset Agenda would focus on addressing the country’s challenges with practical solutions rather than what he described as the politics of deceit.
“My promise to those in the North-East Zone and indeed to all Nigerians, is that we will end the politics of deceit that is ongoing now and proffer genuine solutions to our country’s problems under the Reset Agenda,” Makinde said.
The governor also disclosed that the meeting observed a minute’s silence in honour of those who lost their lives in a military aircraft crash in Ondo State a few days earlier.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and asking God to comfort their loved ones during the period of mourning.
While in Yola, Adamawa State, Makinde and his entourage also visited the family of the late Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Governor of the defunct Gongola State, which comprised present-day Adamawa and Taraba states.

The governor paid tribute to the late elder statesman, praying that his soul would continue to rest in peace.
The Merit Newspaper reports that the North-East engagement forms part of the party’s zonal town hall meetings, during which issues affecting Nigerians, particularly insecurity and economic hardship, have featured prominently in discussions.
Makinde’s remarks underscored his call for a new approach to governance that prioritises practical solutions to the challenges confronting Nigerians under the APM’s proposed Reset Agenda.
