Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday evening presided over the National Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. The meeting, which commenced at 7:20 PM, is the first such gathering under Tinubu’s administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

APC CAUCUS MEETING 1: L-R: Senate President Godswill Akpabio; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Vice President Kashim Shettima, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the APC Caucus meeting, held at the State House, Conference Center, Abuja yesterday.

The high-profile meeting brought together key figures of the ruling party, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Sources close to the party disclosed to The Merit Newspaper that the agenda includes discussions on a proposed non-elective national convention, the establishment of standing committees within the party, and the implementation of a membership e-registration exercise. The caucus is also expected to deliberate on ongoing legal battles involving the APC, which have become a point of concern for party stakeholders.

The National Caucus meeting is a precursor to the APC’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the party’s national secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja. The NEC meeting is expected to further cement key policy decisions and strategies for the party’s future, particularly ahead of upcoming electoral contests.

Political analysts believe that these meetings signal the party’s efforts to strengthen internal cohesion and streamline its administrative structure under Tinubu’s leadership. The resolutions from these engagements will likely shape the party’s direction in the coming months as it navigates governance and political challenges.

With the APC being the ruling party in Nigeria, the outcome of these meetings is expected to have significant implications for the nation’s political landscape. Nigerians and political observers alike will be watching closely as the party moves towards critical reforms and strategic decisions.
