LAGOS — The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the party’s State Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.

The government disclosed that all vehicular movement along ACME Road will be restricted for the duration of the primaries, with complete closure of access points from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent.

A statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation on Wednesday urged motorists and residents to plan their movements accordingly, warning of heavy traffic around the affected axis.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the ACME Road corridor if they do not have any essential business in the area. This is to ensure safety and reduce congestion as the APC primaries take place,” the statement read in part.

To ease the flow of traffic, the state government has provided alternative routes for road users. Motorists coming from Adeniyi Jones are advised to take Aromire Street to Allen Junction to continue their journeys. Likewise, those heading from Allen Avenue can use Aromire to connect Ladipo Oluwole and proceed through Guinness area to reach their destinations.

In addition, motorists approaching from Akilo Road can link Wemco Road, Lateef Jakande, or continue through Omole Estate to bypass the closed route.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed officers to strategic points around the affected roads to guide traffic and assist commuters.

The APC primaries are expected to attract a large turnout of party delegates, aspirants, and supporters, heightening the need for order and effective traffic control in the area.

Residents and business owners within Ikeja and surrounding communities are also advised to remain informed and cooperate with traffic officials for a smooth exercise.
