PARIS — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a high-level meeting with global investors in France, marking the first leg of his three-country tour aimed at strengthening economic ties, attracting foreign capital, and deepening bilateral relations.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the President departed Abuja on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for the visit, which also includes participation in the Africa–France Summit, alongside scheduled stops in Kenya and Rwanda.

The investor meeting, held shortly after he arrived in Paris, brought together representatives from major international financial institutions, including Citibank and France-based asset management giant Amundi, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Valerie Baudson.

Other participants included BlueCrest Capital Management, Ninety One, Kirkoswald Capital, Principal Finisterre, as well as U.S.-based groups Prudential Global Investment Management and Mesarete Capital.

Speaking during the engagement, the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, highlighted Nigeria’s economic outlook, pointing to what he described as strong GDP growth in dollar terms for 2025. He attributed the performance to ongoing fiscal and structural reforms undertaken by the administration.

Tinubu’s engagement with the investors underscores his administration’s broader push to reposition Nigeria as a competitive destination for global investment amid evolving economic policies and reforms.

France, as the first stop on the tour, sets the stage for subsequent diplomatic and economic engagements in Kenya and Rwanda, where similar high-level meetings are expected to further strengthen cooperation.
