President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday for a two-week diplomatic visit covering France, Kenya and Rwanda, in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s international partnerships.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the trip was disclosed by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, who said the President’s first stop will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit scheduled for next week.

The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms in global financing systems.

Tinubu’s participation, slated for May 11 to May 12, is expected to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic ties with African nations and France, while advancing cooperation on innovation and economic growth.

With the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering will provide a platform for leaders to address economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building across the continent.

Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to May 15, where discussions will centre on regional integration, cross-border investment, and scaling African enterprises.

At both events, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s reform agenda and engage global business leaders, before returning to Nigeria at the conclusion of the Rwanda summit.
