Popular Nigerian musician, Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake, has responded to online allegations that he neglected his father, who is reportedly battling a stroke and facing financial difficulties. The claims, which surfaced on social media, accused the singer of failing to care for his father despite his immense success in the music industry.

However, Asake, in a recent statement, refuted the accusations, stating that he had provided substantial financial support for his father over the years. According to him, he gave his father ₦100 million, bought him a house, and ensured his well-being, only for the older man to squander the resources.

“I gave my father ₦100 million, bought a house for him, and he sold it. Now the world is laughing at me, saying I’ve ignored him. This man wastes money like a young boy; he even carries women,” Asake lamented.

A social media user who claimed to know Asake’s father personally in Lagos Island also weighed in on the controversy, defending the singer. The individual alleged that Asake had bought his father a house and a car, but the man had mismanaged his finances and continued to request more money, even after allegedly using funds meant for his medical treatment for other purposes.

“When I saw the accusations, I knew they weren’t true. This man spends lavishly; I know him too well in Lagos Island,” the X user wrote.

The controversy began when reports emerged that Asake’s father was struggling with health issues and had become homeless due to unpaid rent. Critics took to social media to call out the singer, accusing him of neglecting his father despite his financial success.

However, Asake’s response and testimonies from others close to the situation suggest that there is more to the story than initially portrayed.

The incident has sparked discussions on social media about family responsibility, financial discipline, and the importance of hearing both sides of a story before passing judgment.
