OYO – Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Tuesday visited the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, at the royal palace in Oyo town.

The visit, which marks his first since the monarch’s coronation in April 2025, was described by Igboho as a gesture of respect and an effort to reconnect with a traditional ruler he considers a father figure.

Speaking during the visit, Igboho said his tight schedule had delayed the meeting, but he felt it was important to finally pay homage to the new Alaafin.

“This is a visit of peace and unity,” Igboho said. “The Alaafin is our royal father, and I believe now is the time to show support for the throne and join hands to move the Yoruba nation forward.”

The meeting focused on issues affecting the Yoruba people, particularly insecurity in the region and the need for cultural and political unity.

The Alaafin welcomed Igboho warmly, praising his efforts to defend the Yoruba cause and emphasizing the importance of collaboration between traditional rulers and community leaders.

The visit is seen as a symbolic move to strengthen ties between Yoruba traditional institutions and key advocates of Yoruba self-determination.
