Eti-Osa, Lagos — The atmosphere in Eti-Osa Local Government Area was celebratory on Saturday, May 17, 2025, as Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, the outgoing Executive Chairman of the council, marked another year in good health and service to humanity. The occasion was not just a personal milestone but a moment for reflection and celebration of a tenure that has significantly transformed the landscape of one of Lagos State’s most dynamic local government areas.

Hon. Bankole, known for his people-centered leadership and commitment to grassroots development, has, during his administration, initiated and completed several infrastructural and socio-economic projects aimed at improving the living standards of Eti-Osa residents.

Transformative Projects and Development Strides

Among his notable achievements is the recent flag-off of the construction of 114 interlink roads in Aro Town—a project that has already improved accessibility and boosted small-scale businesses within the community.

In the educational sector, his administration commissioned a state-of-the-art e-library at Ikota Primary School, giving pupils and teachers access to modern digital learning tools. This initiative is widely regarded as a step toward bridging the knowledge gap and preparing Eti-Osa students for global competitiveness.

On the front of power and community lighting, Hon. Bankole donated a 500KVA transformer to the Maiyegun community to address persistent electricity challenges. In addition, 30 solar-powered streetlights were installed across various neighborhoods, enhancing security and promoting nighttime economic activity.

To combat perennial flooding, Bankole’s government embarked on widespread desilting exercises across major canals and drainage systems in communities like Igbo-Efon, Jakande, and Osapa, ensuring improved sanitation and flood control.

Empowering the People

Beyond infrastructure, the council under Hon. Bankole also invested in human capital and welfare. Numerous financial empowerment schemes were rolled out to assist traders, artisans, and vulnerable residents. These interventions helped soften the harsh economic realities of recent times and reinforced the council’s commitment to inclusive governance.

Widespread Recognition

Hon. Bankole’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has received commendations for his strategic investments in health, education, and security, earning accolades from civic organizations, community leaders, and media platforms. Most notably, he was recently nominated for outstanding performance in local governance by the Nigerian Grassroots Service Awards (NGSA).

Birthday Wishes from The Merit Newspaper

In celebrating this milestone, The Merit Newspaper joins the well-wishers from across Eti-Osa and beyond in extending heartfelt birthday greetings to Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole. We wish him long life, sound health, prosperity, and divine wisdom to continue serving humanity in greater capacities.
