Lagos, Nigeria – June 20, 2025
The Chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Mr. Kazeem Ganiyu, popularly known as Onipako, has expressed strong confidence in clinching victory at the forthcoming July 12 Local Government election, declaring that his team has been conducting strategic and quiet campaigns across communities in the area.

Onipako made the remarks during the official unveiling and flag presentation ceremony held on Wednesday at the Ikoyi office of Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP and a prominent figure in Lagos politics. The event saw the presentation of flags to 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates of the PDP.
Speaking with reporters, including those from The Merit Newspaper and TVC News, Ganiyu said, “We have been doing underground work and we have been doing house-to-house campaign. We have kept our strategy because we don’t want to make it open, and we are winning this election because it is going to be a different election entirely.”
The candidate, who has served as a grassroots mobiliser and community advocate within Eti-Osa for over a decade, emphasized that the PDP was not only ready for the election but had reconnected deeply with residents at the ward level. “The people want change,” he added. “They have seen what poor leadership has done over the years and are ready to support a party that is putting the people’s needs first.”

PDP chieftain Chief Bode George had earlier described the election as an opportunity for the party to reclaim lost ground in Lagos State. “Let the vibration of your campaign wake up Lagos,” George told candidates. “You must serve and not be served.”
The event was attended by other notable party leaders including former deputy governor Sen. Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Dr. Roli Bode-George, and Chief Onikepo Oshodi, who all expressed optimism that the PDP would record major victories across the state.
