Lagos — Fuji music star, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, has appealed to Nigerians to forgive fellow Fuji legend and Mayegun of Fuji Music, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over his recent altercation with ValueJet Airline officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a heartfelt message shared via his verified social media account, Pasuma stressed that everyone is prone to mistakes and that true maturity lies in acknowledging and correcting those errors.

“As humans, we are all bound to make mistakes,” Pasuma wrote. “It is our remorse and ability to accept our wrongs that make us grow into better humans. Nigerians, please accept our apology.”

The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, sparked widespread reactions after K1 was accused of misconduct towards ValueJet staff during a boarding process. In his own statement, K1 expressed regret for his actions, explaining that the flask he carried on board contained water—not alcohol—due to a medical condition requiring constant hydration.

Pasuma, who has enjoyed a decades-long friendship with K1, said his decision to publicly back the Mayegun of Fuji Music was rooted in the values of loyalty, reconciliation, and public decorum.

“The bond we share as artistes goes beyond music,” Pasuma said. “When one of us stumbles, it is the duty of others to help him rise. My appeal is not just for K1, but for the culture of forgiveness we must nurture as a people.”

The Merit Newspaper reports that K1’s apology extended to the Presidency, the Minister of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet staff, fellow passengers, and the Nigerian public.

The Abuja airport incident has reignited conversations about celebrity conduct, public accountability, and the speed at which social media can amplify controversies.

Pasuma, however, urged Nigerians to move past the episode and focus on unity.

“We must learn to forgive,” he said. “When apologies are offered sincerely, they should be accepted so that we can all grow together.”
