Stop the Feuds, Scholars! Nigerian Muslims Are Watching

Some Nigerian Islamic scholars are trading insults on social media. Instead of guiding the Ummah, public fights are causing confusion and division. Islam does not approve.

Disagreement is natural—insults are not. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Differences of opinion among my Ummah is a mercy.” — [Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 132]

But Allah warns clearly:

“Do not insult one another and do not call each other by offensive nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after faith.” — [Al-Hujurat 49:11]

Words carry weight. On social media, a single harsh comment can mislead thousands. The Prophet reminded us:

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.” — [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 47]

Scholars are role models. Public insults weaken faith—they do not strengthen it. The Quran urges unity:

“The believers are but brothers, so make peace between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” — [Al-Hujurat 49:10]

It’s time to debate with knowledge, speak with dignity, and lead with respect. Let social media be a platform for education, not division.

The Ummah is watching. Your words can inspire or destroy. Choose wisely.
