The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Taofeek Arapaja, is reported to have joined the race for the 2027 Oyo State governorship, signaling a potential shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Emerging reports suggest that Arapaja, a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, is positioning himself among key contenders within the PDP, a development that could reshape internal party dynamics and influence early alignments among stakeholders.

“Reports indicate that PDP National Secretary Taofeek Arapaja has joined the Oyo 2027 governorship race, though official confirmation remains limited.”

While the move has sparked conversations across political circles in Oyo State, there has been no comprehensive confirmation from multiple major national platforms, leaving room for caution as the story continues to develop.

The Merit Newspaper reports that party insiders and observers note that while Taofeek Arapaja has considerable political experience and longstanding involvement in Oyo politics, the contest within the Peoples Democratic Party is expected to be highly competitive, with several other aspirants also demonstrating strong grassroots support and political momentum.

The reported development comes at a time when political consultations and strategic meetings are gradually intensifying ahead of 2027, with several aspirants expected to signal interest in the coming months.
