Iseyin, Oyo State — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday assured stakeholders of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus, of his administration’s commitment to addressing critical challenges affecting the smooth operation of the institution, particularly the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources.

The governor gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Iseyin campus, where pressing issues bordering on infrastructure, facilities and general campus development were extensively discussed.

Makinde, in a statement shared via his official Facebook page on Saturday, January 17, 2026, said the engagement was part of his administration’s deliberate effort to sustain dialogue with critical stakeholders in the education sector.

“As promised, we met with stakeholders of LAUTECH Iseyin Campus to discuss various issues that directly affect the smooth running of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources,” the governor stated.

He explained that after listening to concerns raised by the stakeholders, his government would take concrete steps to ease operational challenges facing the campus.

“After listening to the issues raised, I encouraged all present to work with us sincerely to resolve them,” Makinde said.

In a major boost to the institution, the governor announced plans to provide a special intervention fund to support the provision of urgently needed facilities at the campus.

“I promised to allocate a special intervention fund to provide some of the facilities needed,” he added.

Makinde also urged the university’s management to explore strategic partnerships with the private sector, noting that sustainable development of tertiary institutions requires collaboration beyond government funding.

“I urged the university’s management to collaborate with the private sector in areas that do not require direct government intervention,” the governor said.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the LAUTECH Iseyin Campus, which hosts the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, plays a strategic role in Oyo State’s agricultural development agenda, producing manpower and research outputs critical to food security and renewable resource management.

Stakeholders at the meeting, including university officials, community leaders and education advocates, welcomed the governor’s intervention, describing it as timely and essential for the growth of the campus.

Governor Makinde’s latest engagement aligns with his administration’s broader commitment to strengthening public tertiary institutions across Oyo State through targeted funding, infrastructure development and policy reforms.

Observers say the proposed intervention fund and the push for private sector collaboration could significantly enhance learning, research and agricultural innovation at the LAUTECH Iseyin Campus if effectively implemented.
