The President of the new Nigerian Students’ Association, Akintoye Babtee, has paid a solidarity visit to Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho, following the abduction of students and teachers reportedly kidnapped by bandits in Ahoro-Esinele, Ogbomoso area of Oyo State.
The visit, captured in a photograph showing both men in discussion, centered on the growing insecurity affecting communities in the region and the urgent need for coordinated action to secure schools and rural settlements.
The Merit Newspaper reports that during the engagement, Babtee expressed concern over the repeated attacks on educational institutions and called for stronger community-based security responses to protect vulnerable populations, especially students and teachers.

He also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to formally recognize Igboho and his regional security structure as a legitimate support system that could assist in safeguarding Yoruba land amid rising security challenges.

The visit has since sparked renewed debate on the role of local security initiatives in complementing national efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping across parts of the country.
