Hon. Foluke Precious Bagbansoro

ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA — November 11, 2025

In what appears to be another significant shakeup within the Ogun State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), the State Woman Leader, Honourable Foluke Precious Bagbansoro, has formally resigned from her position and from the party, citing ideological differences and a personal political realignment.

In her resignation letter dated November 10, 2025, and addressed to the NNPP State Chairman, Barrister Olufemi Aina, Hon. Bagbansoro announced her decision to step down from the leadership role with immediate effect.

“This decision is reached after careful consideration and deep personal reflection on my political journey and future aspirations, which no longer align with the current direction or ideologies of the party,” she stated.

Bagbansoro, a grassroots mobilizer and one of the leading voices for women’s political participation in Ogun State, expressed profound gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve.

“I am genuinely grateful for the opportunities given to me to serve the women of Ogun State and the party’s general members,” she said, adding that she “values the insights and experiences gained during her tenure with deep appreciation.”

She also extended her goodwill to the state chairman and other executive members for their cooperation during her time in office, describing their collaboration as one that she “will deeply miss.”

The former woman leader, known for her vibrant leadership style and commitment to women’s empowerment, assured the party of a peaceful handover process.

“I remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition of my responsibilities,” she affirmed. “It’s with immense honour and gratitude that I will forever remain indebted to our individual personal relationships, as our interests in the field of politics will always bring us together in the nearest political arena.”

Although Hon. Bagbansoro did not disclose her next political move, sources within Ogun’s political circle suggest that her resignation might be part of a broader realignment among NNPP stalwarts in the state, following recent high-profile defections to other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Political observers have described her exit as a major loss to the NNPP’s women’s wing in Ogun State, given her pivotal role in mobilising female voters and championing gender inclusion during the 2023 general elections.

Efforts to reach the Ogun State NNPP Chairman, Barr. Olufemi Aina, for official reaction was unsuccessful as of press time, but insiders say the state executive may soon announce a replacement to fill the vacant position.

Hon. Bagbansoro, who hails from Abeokuta South Local Government, is widely respected for her advocacy in community development and women’s leadership initiatives. Her next political steps are being closely watched by analysts and supporters across the state.
