Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), after picking up his nomination form at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The lawmaker, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, confirmed the development via his official social media handle, stating, “I have picked up my All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form for the Oyo State governorship race.”

Alli disclosed that the moment was marked by a strong show of support from party stakeholders, noting that he was “accompanied by members of the National Assembly and party faithful,” a development seen by observers as a signal of growing political backing within the party.

Widely known as BSA, the Ibadan-born politician and legal practitioner has built a reputation over the years for his involvement in public service, legislative engagement, and grassroots-oriented initiatives across Oyo South. Political analysts say his entry into the race could reshape the dynamics of the APC’s governorship contest in the state.

The Merit Newspaper reports that Alli’s move comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the next electoral cycle, with major parties intensifying consultations and strategic alignments. Within APC circles, the contest is expected to attract several influential aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket.
