President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose tenure will expire on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Professor Aina, a scholar of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, is expected to assume office after the completion of Oloyede’s two-term tenure as registrar of the examination body.

Professor Oloyede, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, was first appointed JAMB Registrar in 2016 and was reappointed for a second term in 2021.

During his tenure, Oloyede introduced several reforms in the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), including the use of technology-driven examination processes and measures aimed at reducing examination malpractice.

The Federal Government expressed confidence that the appointment of Professor Aina would further strengthen the administration and operations of the examination body.

JAMB is responsible for conducting entrance examinations into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, including universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
