The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election for Surulere Constituency 1 in Lagos State ended in a landslide victory for Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who defeated incumbent lawmaker and actor-turned-politician, Hon. Desmond Elliot.
According to the results announced after the exercise, Odunuga-Bakare secured 11,385 votes to emerge victorious, while Desmond Elliot polled 270 votes.
The Merit Newspaper reports that the outcome has sparked political discussions within Surulere and across Lagos political circles, with many party supporters describing the result as a strong indication of the political structure and grassroots support enjoyed by Odunuga-Bakare within the constituency.

Desmond Elliot, a popular Nollywood actor and member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has represented Surulere Constituency 1 for several years prior to the latest primary contest.
Party faithful and observers are now looking ahead to the general election as the APC intensifies preparations to retain its dominance in Lagos State politics.
