Political tension within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a dramatic turn on Wednesday after a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olusegun Olaniyan Olaleye, publicly rained curses on prominent party figures, Senator Sharafadeen Alli and Shina Alabi, in a viral video circulating across social media platforms.

Olaleye was reportedly seen at the frontage of the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland and later at the Oyo State APC Secretariat, where he openly accused Senator Alli of allegedly manipulating the political process ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

Holding what appeared to be a Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) bell while chanting repeatedly, the former lawmaker declared that both politicians would not succeed in future general elections.

The Merit Newspaper reports that in the emotional outburst captured in the viral footage, Olaleye alleged that Senator Alli had sidelined and politically undermined several party loyalists in what he described as a desperate move to secure the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State.

“Sharafadeen Alli has used a cunning way to grab the gubernatorial ticket of APC, and I believe the spirit of all the individuals whose names and political ambitions have been destroyed for you to become the candidate of APC in 2027 will never allow you to become governor of Oyo State,” Olaleye declared.

“You will never rule Oyo State. The tears of those who have been oppressed politically will speak against you,” he added in Yoruba and English intermittently during the video.

The former lawmaker also directed strong words at APC chieftain Shina Alabi, accusing him of allegedly participating in what he called the “betrayal of genuine party members.”

Observers described the scene as unusual and symbolic, particularly because the former legislator chose two highly significant political locations in Ibadan — the palace vicinity of the Olubadan and the APC Secretariat — to make his pronouncements.

Although the exact circumstances leading to the confrontation remain unclear as of press time, political watchers in the state believe the development may not be unconnected to growing internal disagreements and underground alignments ahead of the 2027 political permutations within the APC.

The video has since generated widespread reactions online, with supporters and critics of the affected politicians engaging in heated debates over the implications of the incident.

While some social media users condemned the public display of curses and political bitterness, others argued that the development reflects the deepening crisis and unresolved grievances among party stakeholders in Oyo APC.

Neither Senator Sharafadeen Alli nor Shina Alabi had officially responded to the allegations and public curses as of the time of filing this report.

Senator Alli, who currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District, remains one of the influential figures within the APC structure in the state and has continued to be mentioned in political conversations surrounding the 2027 governorship contest.

Political analysts say the viral incident further exposes the fragile unity within opposition parties in Oyo State, especially as consultations and underground mobilisations for future elections quietly intensify.

The APC in Oyo State has in recent years struggled with internal divisions, factional interests, and recurring disputes among party loyalists, particularly over candidate selection and leadership control.

As reactions continue to trail the video, many residents and political observers are watching closely to see whether the party leadership will intervene or address the controversy before it escalates further.
