Badagry, Lagos State – August 6, 2025 —
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday commissioned seven newly reconstructed roads in the Badagry axis, pledging his administration’s continued commitment to infrastructure development that supports commerce, tourism, and socio-economic growth.

The roads—Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road, Hospital Road, and Samuel Ekundayo Road—were officially handed over to residents during a ceremony attended by government officials and community leaders.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the projects would ease transportation, boost business activities, and open up previously inaccessible communities in the area.

“Our administration has continued to provide infrastructure that supports businesses, creates employment, and improves the living conditions of our people,” he said.

The governor praised the residents for their patience during the construction period, describing their loyalty and support as “invaluable pillars in our collective journey towards progress and development.”

“Beyond the electoral process, we commend the continuous understanding, patience, and cooperation shown by the people of Badagry throughout the entire construction period of these road projects,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized the strategic importance of Badagry in the state’s tourism and economic roadmap, citing its rich cultural heritage and natural attractions.

“We have prioritized the provision of adequate, modern infrastructure that not only supports tourism but also stimulates broader socio-economic development in the region,” he said. “At the core of our policy of inclusiveness is a steadfast determination to extend development far beyond central urban areas.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to reach every corner of the state with essential amenities such as roads and drainage systems.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said the roads were previously impassable due to flooding and overgrowth.

“Today, the roads have been transformed with semi-rigid pavement finishes, offering durability, resilience, and safe passage for residents and commuters,” Daramola said.

Also speaking at the event, Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, commended the governor for his commitment to grassroots development.

“This commissioning demonstrates visionary leadership and a commitment to purposeful governance at the grassroots level,” Hunpe said.
