In a dramatic turn of events, renowned Fuji music icon, King (Dr.) Saheed Osupa, has officially directed the withdrawal of a legal case filed against controversial street-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable. The case, which stemmed from allegations of intellectual property violation and defamation, has been discontinued following widespread appeals from respected figures in the entertainment and business sectors.

In a press statement released on April 13, 2025, Osupa’s media aide, Busari Basit Babatunde, stated that the decision was born out of compassion and a belief in rehabilitation rather than punishment. He emphasized that although the legal action was initially intended to protect Osupa’s brand and send a message of accountability within the industry, the Fuji maestro has chosen to embrace forgiveness.

“The legal proceedings were never personal,” the statement read. “They were intended to set a precedent for discipline and respect, especially among emerging artistes. However, following passionate interventions from key stakeholders and Portable’s ongoing legal predicament, King Osupa chose to act with mercy.”

Prominent Nigerians who intervened include Alhaji Ahmad Lawal, CEO of Lahmad Concepts; Saheed Ibile, CEO of Harmony Holdings Ltd; Alhaji Fatai Lajero, representing the Olufimo Royal Parliament; and Alhaji Waheed Ogunsesan, National President of the Olufimo Fans Club.

The statement further disclosed that Osupa’s gesture of clemency comes with conditions. Portable is expected to publicly retract a statement alleging that Osupa should be held responsible if anything were to happen to him. Additionally, he must renounce a claim made by his lawyer, Chief Barrister Isaac Adebayo, suggesting that Osupa witnessed Portable begging for forgiveness—an incident Osupa maintains never occurred. The artiste must also sign an undertaking pledging to desist from defamatory and cyberbullying behavior going forward.

“If these conditions are not met, the case may be reinstated,” the statement warned.

King Saheed Osupa, who has long been regarded as a pillar in the Fuji music scene, reiterated his commitment to fostering a culture of respect, discipline, and mentorship in the Nigerian music industry.

“While accountability is essential, mercy too is a pillar of leadership,” Osupa reportedly said, expressing hope that Portable would seize this opportunity for personal and professional growth.

The withdrawal has been received with mixed reactions across social media, with many praising Osupa for choosing a path of maturity and peace.

Fans and supporters of the Fuji legend have also expressed their continued support, with many noting that the initial legal action was a justified response to provocative conduct.

As this chapter comes to a close, the spotlight now shifts to Portable, who is expected to honor the terms laid out in good faith and reflect on the opportunity handed to him.
