ABUJA — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled its special convention and presidential primary for Sunday, May 24, 2026, as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by the Chairman of ADC State Chairmen, Kingsley Temitope Ogga, who outlined the party’s timetable for upcoming activities.

According to Ogga, ward and local government area (LGA) non-elective congresses are set for Thursday, May 7, while the state congress will take place on Friday, May 8. He noted that the schedule aligns with the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, and a recent ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He stressed that all congresses, the convention, and related processes must be conducted strictly under the supervision of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Ogga further advised members, aspirants, and stakeholders to engage only through officially recognised NEC structures, warning against participation in any parallel arrangements.
He declared that any congresses, primaries, or delegate processes conducted outside the NEC framework would be invalid, adding that only outcomes from NEC-approved channels would be recognised for the 2027 elections.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the development follows lingering internal disagreements within the party after its April 14, 2026, national convention in Abuja, where a new National Working Committee (NWC) was ratified amid disputes over leadership and venue.
