The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, fixing May 25, 2026, for its presidential primary and setting the cost of its nomination form at N100 million.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the schedule outlines guidelines and requirements for the emergence of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and strict compliance with the Electoral Act.

According to the timetable, the process is already underway, with the collection of application forms running from April 1 to May 4, 2026. The sale of nomination forms is scheduled from May 5 to May 10, while submission of completed forms will take place between May 11 and May 13.

Screening of aspirants is billed for May 14 and May 15, with results to be published on May 17. Appeals arising from the exercise will be heard between May 18 and May 19, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20.

The party disclosed that primary elections for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats will be held simultaneously at the ward level on May 21. Governorship primaries are slated for May 22, while the presidential primary will take place on May 25.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the timetable also provides for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee on May 26, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27 for the ratification of candidates.

On the cost of participation, the ADC approved a structured fee regime for all elective positions, pegging the presidential form at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million, and State House of Assembly at N3 million.

The party further announced a 50 per cent discount on nomination forms for youths, as well as a 25 per cent reduction for women and persons with disabilities.
