The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially unveiled Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu as its governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Kawu emerged as the party’s candidate through a consensus arrangement adopted by party stakeholders during the selection process.

The unveiling, which attracted party leaders, supporters and delegates, was described by PDP officials as part of efforts to maintain unity and strengthen the party’s chances in the forthcoming governorship election.
The Merit Newspaper reports that the party leaders said the consensus decision reflected the confidence reposed in Kawu’s leadership capacity, political experience and acceptance among members across the state.
Speaking after his emergence, Kawu appreciated the party leadership and members for the confidence placed in him, assuring supporters of his commitment to inclusive governance, development and the overall progress of Kwara State if elected.
He also called on party members to remain united and work together towards ensuring victory for the PDP in the 2027 general election.

The PDP maintained that the consensus process was peaceful and transparent, stressing that the party remains focused on presenting a formidable platform capable of reclaiming power in the state.
