The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saliu Danladi, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State after recording a decisive victory in the party’s primary election held on Friday.

According to the official results of the exercise, Danladi polled 94,990 votes to defeat his closest rival, Yahaya Seriki, who scored 41,700 votes, while Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa secured 22,118 votes.
The Merit Newspaper reports that the primary election, conducted across the state’s local government areas, featured 14 aspirants in total and was described by party officials as peaceful, transparent, and well-participated by delegates.

In his acceptance remarks shortly after the announcement, Danladi expressed appreciation to party members for their support, pledging to strengthen party unity and consolidate APC’s political influence in Kwara State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
His victory is already reshaping political calculations within the state as parties gear up for what is expected to be a highly competitive general election season.
