President Bola Tinubu has indicated that he may not visit all states and local government areas during his re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general election, citing the need to balance campaign activities with his responsibilities as president.
Tinubu made this known on Wednesday while inaugurating the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

The President said he had been advised not to allow the demands and rigours of the campaign to distract him from governance, stressing that the country required his attention at a critical time.
“You have warned me and asked me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance. I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision,” Tinubu said.
He added that the responsibilities of his office would not be suspended because of the electioneering process, noting that Nigeria needed sustained attention from its leadership.

“However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians, even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas. So you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” the President told members of the council.
Tinubu described the inauguration of the campaign council as more than a political exercise, saying it represented a renewed commitment to Nigerians and the responsibilities entrusted to the ruling party.
He said the council, led by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, would be responsible for taking the administration’s vision, record and agenda to voters across the country as the APC prepares for the 2027 presidential election.

The Merit Newspaper reports that the President expressed confidence in the council’s ability to communicate the party’s message nationwide and mobilise support for its electoral ambition, while indicating that he would participate in campaign engagements without necessarily attending rallies in every state and local government area.
