Abeokuta, Ogun State – August 7, 2025

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaja Sikirat Agbeyangi popularly known as Iya Ologi, Mother of the Ogun State Chairman of the party, Barrister Senator Olufemi John Aina, who passed away early hours of today, Thursday, 7 August, 2025.

In an official statement issued on Thursday and signed by Hon. Comrade Olowu Olayemi Omokehinde, the Ogun State Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, the party described the loss as a painful and irreplaceable one—not only to the Aina family but also to the entire NNPP family across the state and the nation.

“On behalf of all the members of our great party in Ogun State and across the federation, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to our State Chairman, His Excellency Barr. Sen. Olufemi John Aina, on the passing of his beloved mother, Alhaja Risikat Agbeyangi,” Comrade Olowu said.

He noted that the late matriarch lived a life of impact and was a pillar of strength and virtue whose legacy reflected in the integrity and leadership qualities of her son.

“The loss of a mother is a profound sorrow. We understand the depth of this grief and stand in solidarity with Senator Aina and the entire Aina family during this trying time. Her nurturing spirit and wise counsel helped shape a leader who has continued to serve the party and the people with distinction,” Olowu added.

The party offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant her eternal rest.

“We pray that Almighty Allah grants her soul Al-Jannah Firdaus and blesses the children and family she left behind. May He also grant our leader and his family the strength, fortitude, and peace to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.

The NNPP emphasized that Alhaja Agbeyangi’s legacy would remain an inspiration, not only to her family but to all members of the party who admired her son’s values and leadership.

“As a party, we are united in grief and in prayer. May the peace of God be upon the entire Aina family,” Olowu reiterated.
